Scholarship description

The University of Arizona Fully Funded Graduate Scholarship 2026 offers Master’s and PhD opportunities in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology under the McNew Lab, led by Professor Sabrina McNew. This program provides full tuition coverage, healthcare benefits, and a USD 22,000 annual stipend. Students will join a collaborative research environment focusing on birds, parasites, and diseases through approaches such as genomics, field ecology, immunology, and statistical modeling. A funded MS position starting in January 2026, co-supervised with the University of Vienna, involves research on Philornis parasitism and nestling wellbeing in the Galápagos Islands.

Who can apply

  • Open to applicants from all nationalities.

  • Must have prior experience with parasites and/or wild birds (specific technical expertise not required).

  • Should have a solid conceptual understanding of ecology and evolutionary biology.

  • Must demonstrate motivation, collaboration skills, and alignment with McNew Lab’s research interests.

  • Advanced or native proficiency in Spanish or German is preferred for fieldwork.

  • IELTS is not required.
