RWFM was established in 2020 following a reimagining of the most impactful way two former departments can advance natural resource stewardship. Comprised of world-class professionals, RWFM actively works to address the most pressing issues facing the future of natural resources and environmental health through the land-grant mission of teaching, research and outreach. Together, we are producing the next generation of natural resource professionals.

Scholarship description

The Texas Tech University Scholarship 2026 is a fully funded graduate opportunity at the LEAF Lab. It supports master’s students to engage in an NSF-funded project on grassland wildfire behavior. Scholars will conduct cutting-edge research in fire ecology and remote sensing, predict fuel attributes, participate in experimental burns, and collaborate with scientists and land managers across the Southern Great Plains. The award includes full tuition coverage, a $19,000 annual stipend, and other professional benefits.

Who can apply

  • Students holding a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline

  • Candidates with prior knowledge in fire ecology and/or remote sensing (preferred)

  • Must demonstrate strong interest in at least one of these areas

  • Open to both U.S. and international applicants
