Stipendium Hungaricum is a wide-ranging scholarship programme based on bilateral education agreements

Scholarship description

The Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship is a flagship fully funded program launched by the Hungarian Government to attract outstanding international students to study in Hungary.It operates under bilateral cooperation agreements between Hungary and more than 90 partner countries.Scholars can study at 30+ Hungarian universities across all major disciplines with full financial support covering tuition, monthly stipend, housing, and health insurance.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be citizens of eligible partner countries (including Vietnam).

  • Meet entry requirements of their selected university.

  • Age limits:

    • Bachelor’s: under 25

    • Master’s: under 35

    • PhD: under 40

  • Hold appropriate previous degrees (High school diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s).

  • English language requirement:

    • IELTS/TOEFL not mandatory if:

      • English is the applicant’s native language, or

      • Previous studies were conducted in English, or

      • Applicant passes the university’s internal English test.

Application Form

Application process:

  1. Create an account and complete the online application on the Stipendium Hungaricum Portal.
  2. Upload required documents (academic transcripts, motivation letter, ID, proof of language proficiency, etc.).
  3. Choose up to two study programs at participating Hungarian universities.
  4. Submit the application by January 15, 2026 (2:00 PM CET).Applications are reviewed by Hungarian universities and Tempus Public Foundation (TPF) in cooperation with partner countries’ authorities.
