Scholarship description

The Newcastle University RTP Scholarship 2026 is one of Australia’s most competitive PhD funding opportunities under the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP).It provides full financial support and structured academic development for international students pursuing doctoral research. Scholars gain access to mentorship, teaching experience, professional development, and collaborative research networks, preparing them for successful research and academic careers worldwide.

Applications close on 30 November 2025, with results released on 16 January 2026, and the program commencing by 2 March 2026.

Who can apply

  • Applicants with strong academic records and research experience.

  • Must demonstrate a clear research proposal aligned with Newcastle University’s academic priorities.

  • Should have prior research output (e.g., publications, conference presentations, or projects).

  • Must hold a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.

  • Expected to collaborate closely with supervisors and actively participate in professional development activities.
