Scholarship description

The grant provides full support for selected scholars from Southeast Asia to attend the Association for Asian Studies Annual Conference 2026, the largest Asian Studies event worldwide. The conference brings together over 3,000 scholars, professors, librarians, and students across 30 academic disciplines covering all countries in Asia. Objectives of the award are:

  • To support the academic career development of scholars in the field of Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia

  • To encourage cross-border and cross-disciplinary academic exchange

Who can apply

  • Scholars working in the field of Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia

  • Priority given to:

    • Young scholars, or those contributing to the development of young scholars

    • Applicants conducting research bridging Southeast Asian/Asian Studies and Japanese Studies

    • Applicants without other sources of funding
